Introduction

The Web is truly bottomless! Here a list of useful and interesting places for books lovers. This "Universal Library for Personal use" is an ongoing project, and readers are encouraged to contribute, suggest and correct links.

Some of the following links are at the same time very important basic tools for searchers, and are therefore listed with many details and ad hoc explanations in our books section as well. Some other are true hidden gems, that you should by all means peruse slowly, sipping a good wine, when the twilight comes.

One thing off the top of my head though is gutenberg australia.
Everybody knows the "standard gutenberg" but not many know that the aussie one has stuff that is still copyrighted underneath the US 75 years cage (or whatever überlenght they managed to impose these days... they keep changing it).
As the oz law is just 50 years max.
So 1984 and the like is on the .au servers :)
http://gutenberg.net.au/

Also from the top of my head is perseus
http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/
which fits into both sections as it has English and Classical languages.
They carry a lot of stuff not on other servers, unfortunately a lot of it is only accessible to users that attend the University, but the public section is still good.
